Somebody badly need to train and educate the staff at the Thai Immigration at the Sadao border post to Malaysia (Kedah). Not only that they charge extra fees for stamping passports upon entry, they also have unfriendly attitudes and leave a negative impression on visitors entering from the south.
After all, they are public servants of the kingdom and don't own the border!
I should add that I cross the Thai border in the South several times each year and I never have experienced such a lousy service at Sungai Kolok, Padang Bezar or Bedong crossings. When I traveled with my own car I went out of my way to avoid Sadao, but as a passenger on a public bus one hardly can avoid Sadao.
I have heard rumors that some extra targeted schooling of the Immigration staff at BKK Int'l resulted in a much improved service afterwards and wish the Sadao officers could benefit from such a schooling as well.
Best regards
Frank
